After a French woman, who believed she was dating Brad Pitt, filed for divorce from her affluent husband, a con artist took advantage of her vulnerability by collecting thousands of euros for what he claimed was cancer treatment. The con artist manipulated the woman into believing that she was exhibiting symptoms consistent with cancer and needed urgent therapy.
The woman, known as Anne, went through significant life changes to accommodate her relationship with the fictitious Brad Pitt. She made these changes out of a deep desire to be close to him. However, it was later revealed that she had been exploited and deceived by the con artist.
The deceit began when Anne received a message on Facebook from someone claiming to be Brad Pitt’s mother. Despite never speaking to the real Brad Pitt on the phone, Anne engaged in text conversations with the con artist. The con artist used artificial intelligence to create videos and images of Brad Pitt to further deceive Anne.
After a few months, the con artist proposed marriage to Anne, leading her to seek a divorce from her husband. The con artist then claimed to have bought expensive gifts for Anne, but needed over nine thousand dollars to get them through customs. Anne paid the money, only to realize later that she had been scammed.
The con artist went on to convince Anne that he needed treatment for kidney cancer, leading her to send him about 800,000 dollars as part of their divorce settlement. He claimed he couldn’t use his own money due to a divorce battle with Angelina Jolie. It wasn’t until Anne saw genuine photos of Brad Pitt with his actual girlfriend that she realized the extent of the deception.
Following Anne’s complaint in 2024, an investigation was launched, revealing the cruel and unusual punishment she had been subjected to. Authorities are working to find those responsible for the hoax, while Anne receives treatment for severe depression in a facility specializing in psychotherapy for depression patients.
This incident isn’t the first time Brad Pitt’s identity has been used in criminal activities. In September 2024, five individuals were arrested in Spain for extorting more than three hundred thirty thousand dollars from two women by pretending to have a connection to Brad Pitt.
